Deze publicatie van Posture Editions verscheen op 16 november 2024 in cultuurhuis Warande, Turnhout. Tekst en interview door Barbara De Coninck (Nederlands & Engels); grafisch ontwerp door Katrien Daemers.
Een lopend schetsboekproject (2008–heden) met landschappen van diverse reizen. De tekeningen worden steeds ter plaatse (‘en plein air’) gemaakt met zwarte inkt in Moleskine-schetsboeken.
Een vroege selectie van de werken was in 2010 te zien tijdens ‘Wallpiece 10’, een groepstentoonstelling rond schetsboeken met de titel ‘Natuur(studie)boek’. Hieraan namen ook andere kunstenaars deel (onder wie Rinus Vande Velde, Hannelore Van Dijck, Arpaïs Du Bois, Piet Raemdonck en Jan Stremes), gecureerd door Nikolaas Demoen.

Interview Barbara De Coninck
Ik herinner me deze wilde, ietwat rommelige plek met doornige struiken en een beekje: een uitzonderlijk vruchtbare plek. Er waren kikkers, wat ongebruikelijk was. Eén struik was vreemd hol en wierp een lange schaduw, helemaal tot aan een rotsformatie erachter. Een fractie van een seconde leek het op een zwart gat dat alles opslokte. Dat moment van openbaring is mij echt bijgebleven. In mijn tekeningen wil ik orde in de chaos scheppen door zoveel mogelijk uit te wissen. Ik streef voortdurend naar perfectie, zonder het ooit te kunnen vangen. (detail uit het interview)
Expositie De Warande
Een selectie tekeningen en schetsboeken, een monumentaal keramisch wandwerk en een video werden tentoongesteld in Cultuurhuis De Warande in Turnhout. Van 16 november 2024 tot 6 april 2025. Curator: Glenn Geerinck.
Vista Alegre
Vista Alegre (Portugal) invited me -for a residence, in the company of 3 other artists- to visit, observe and record (drawing and painting) on site. For a taste of the history and vision behind the brand ‘Vista Alegre’ and in order to give my artistic vision on this place. What immediately struck me was the scale of the heritage: a chapel, a historic factory with kilns, archives & a museum, several shops (Bordallo Pinheiro), a theater and a hotel, surrounded by streets of employees' houses.
Residence
Watching over the red, terracotta tiled roofs were pairs of storks, who came to spend the winter in Portugal and seemed to be in full 'Spring mood’, despite the sometimes fierce rainy weather. I will now forever associate the clapping sound of the storks with this place. It reminded me of the historic Vista Alegre emblem with the Emu. Emus and Storks have something in common, they are both oversized birds, they could be nephews. Like echoes, uniting different parts of the world. I used this duo as ambassadors in some of my more illustrative work for Vista Alegre. Series of landscapes also emerged, where garden (nature) and architecture collide in natural or artificial, day and night light.

Museum collection
The museum collection was a great source of inspiration & knowledge. The spirit of certain ages shone through the pieces, indirectly reflecting historic facts or playful, laconic criticism of prevailing politics.
